Hi Jerry
A very nice tankard, and a lovely piece of history.
I have found his entry in the London Gazette.
Don't know if of any help.

Brilliant Chris, that is so helpful, thank you.

I am surprised that his great war MC is not on his MIC.

Great to have those extra details

No worries
The MC's etc are recorded on different MIC's, available on ancestry etc in the MIC section, just a bugger to find.
Cheers Jerry

I have more than a few attributable tankards in my collection and I have to say that your recent find is an absolute cracker. Well done.

And adding a photo of BSM Cheek is great, photos add another dimension to such items (as of course do service records etc).

I also have half-a-dozen or so, mostly 19th century. Away from home right now, but will post images next time I’m home.
