"One for the Irish Collectors" - Royal Dublin Fusiliers Musicians?
I acquired this "Oddity" yesterday, I'm pretty certain it is "Of the Period" and not one a "Frankenstein" item emerging from Blackpool in more recent times!
A standard King's Crown Musician/Bandsman's badge with an added base scroll. Both parts obviously original with a rather rudimentary solder joint with strengthening! I'm pretty sure this was manufactured at unit level for genuine use, rather than knocked up to con or deceive! Does anyone else have one or a similar item? Andy,
That badge has been featured with photographs in past on the forum. It was apparently made at unit level as a regimental musician's arm badge. A nice badge and a rare find. Eddie Last edited by ebro; 30-07-14 at 08:22 AM. |

Andy,
This badge is believed to be a composite badge, perhaps made at the Depot in Nass for the band. As already stated a standard musicians badge with the scroll off the RDF cap badge attached. Believed to be unofficial! Great badge to get. Any chance of a photo of the back, please? Regards, Dave |
