Default Royal Marines valise ? badge

Good afternoon

Is this a genuine Victorian Royal Marines valise? Badge. The fittings are initialed.

I cannot remember the last time I held one of these, as with Phil I think it's ok.

I think you will find that it is a band pouch (aka music case) badge rather than 'valise'. There were/are two patterns.

Was not the Victorian badge (fitted with hook & flat tube for the strap) a valise badge, the kings crown (fitted with lugs) a band pouch badge?

Rawlinson has this badge as #948 valise badge 1874-1902, the various pouch badges, QVC, KC and QC, all have different shaped scrolls.
