Default Ambulance Challenge Shield

Army Dress Committee Agenda dated 27/04/71 record a proposal was submitted by AMD2, supported by the Council of Colonels Commandant RAMC, that officers and soldiers of the TAVR who are members of the team winning the T&AVR Ambulance Challenge Shield, be allowed to wear the winner’s badge made of cloth and gold wire on the left lower sleeve of their No.2 Dress. The Council recommend the wearing of this badge as the competition is a severe test of RAMC skills and assists in raising the standards of individual training in the RAMC T&AVR and the badge is highly prized.
The badge was purchased from funds derived from entry fees of the units competing and there was no charge to public funds.

My question- can anyone please supply me a photo of said badge/ or do they have one in their surplus box?

Thanks, Stephen.

Quick check shows this competition has been around for a very long time , first photo is from The British Medical Journal ( NAVAL AND MILITARY MEDICAL SERVICES) dated MAY 27, 1905.

The second photo is from The Journal of the Royal Army Medical Corps dated AUGUST, 1911.

Edit : The National Archives has a record/documents from 1926 :

Found a presentation by "Friends of Millbank" which has a page with some details could explain the 1926 documents:

Quote:
TA Challenge Shield

• Introduced 1925
• Was the old, Victorian, Volunteer Brigade First Aid Competition that lapsed in 1905
• All remaining TA compete annually
• Apart from war years, lasted to 2005
• Resides now at HQ 2 Med Bde
It is possible that the competition actually lapsed during the war years rather than 1905 as RAMC Journal shows it was still going in 1911.

Fascinating Mike thank you so much, I had done a bit of googling and come up with a reference to 1926 but nothing else.
Great bit of detective work.

The competition is even mentioned in America at "The Association of Military Surgeons" 7th Annual Meeting held in 1897.
