I now see badge is re-listed and being told a reproduction due to its colour.... must be a big relief for the buyer!

As part of my other thread re id'ing Commando insignia, I have this example which I thought I would put up here for comments as this thread is specific to this patch.

I'm 99.99% certain it's a fake but here you go anyway.

The white on black examples are more often spuriously attributed to Commando Depot rather than D Troop No.3 Cdo. There are some more convincing fakes around than the one you display. The truth of the matter is that the Depot is most unlikely to have adopted a badge so close in design to D Troop and there is no photographic or written evidence to support such a proposition. All found to date are fakes, including 'reputedly' attributed examples - this pattern is best avoided.
