There are certainly a lot of opportunists who would like to see the break up and demise of the UK and loss of what Overseas Territories we have left. It would certainly make good journalism. Until anyone has genuine facts about what is going to happen after negotiations with the EU anything said or reported beforehand should be taken with a pinch of salt, and I doubt that will lead to the handover of Gibraltar who have recently stated that is not their will. Paul I will add also add that the EU has to put on a strong posture toward the UK because they have a couple of elections coming up in major member states and there is still the Eurozone Greek bailout to sort out as well as possibly other states such as Spain and Portugal. As for Gibraltar, in my view the UK will not give it back or negotiate on the issue. The Spanish may close the border (and put hundreds of Spanish people out of work in the process). They have done that before and Gibraltar survived. The UK would make sure that is the case. Without a doubt. On the other hand if the people of Gibraltar wanted to live under Spanish rule that would be another story. The PM is another Thatcher and will not be bullied. We live in changing times and have always done so. The military are not sacrosanct when it comes to change. If they got rid of the hundreds of top brass and their whopping pay cheques and started to live in a modern world with realistic expectations that would be a good starting point. We no longer rule three quarters of the world. Finally, I would suggest that in 10 - 15 years time the EU as we now know it will not exist. The only countries who will cling to it are those who don't have a viable economy and who see the present set up as a free cash cow. Dave. Last edited by altcar73; 01-04-17 at 09:30 AM. |

Really?
I should take a brief look at their history since 1945, they have been the preferred option, for every government, time and time again, fortunately, they are not just parachutists. |

Maybe if the Spanish gave back Ceuta and Melilla they would have a case ..
The way I see it is The British have had Gib longer than Australia has been a Nation so they should just get used to it and start including Gib on their maps cheers Steve Quote:

Navy
Hi Alan
The US have confirm that full user trials for the f-35 VTOL will commence in and around u 2020 ..At the moment the Navy have 1 to play with.. I was also at a meeting where it was being discussed that the RAF may fly them on the carriers ????? But I can tell you that the type 45's struggle to run the turbines and provide Aux power ,so they all have to have an additional Aux engine fitted oh yes they also need some missiles for the state-of-the art missile system ... its depressing rgds steve |

You're going into dangerous territory there Paul. There is no was that the number of political posts will be cut . The whole purpose of devolution was to provide more jobs for politicians and mayors are simply another hideaway for overpaid MPs who lost their seats in Westminster. Political rant over.

When you consider that everything priced in US dollars has gone up by about 20% since the referendum, and we will be paying for the F-35s for HMS Queen Elizabeth post brexit who knows what they will cost? The there is the subjet of more F-35s for HMS Prince of Wales.....

I know full well that PARA are Army & RM are Navy but it was mooted all through my time in 5 Airborne Brigade that a Belgian style Para-Commando Regiment & Brigade would be formed along with Support arms and Para-Cdo Gunner regiment. It could be on the cards again.
