Hello Mac

Your first two button are Royal Household or Court buttons - I will see if I can find more detail.

Third button is 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers.

Fourth button with 'N' is not British.

Fifth button with 'KLI' in centre is an Officer's Mess Waiter's button for the 85th (The King's Light Infantry) Regiment, which became the King's Shropshire Light Infantry in 1881.

Roger

PS Found the reference I wanted quicker than I thought. Button 1 is Royal Household (Levee Dress) used by a variety of people. Button 2 was used by the Royal Household Staff of George VI.

Default Button ID.

Many thanks Roger .That`s really excellent info. The big button is Napoleonic i suppose but my reference sources for that period are pretty slim. I`ll keep looking. Many thanks and all the best Andrew.

Hello Andrew

Someone on here (GTB or btns, I reckon) will know exactly what the 'N' button is!

Just give them a while.

'N' is a fashion button from the 1950-1960s.
It is indeed modeled on a Napoleonic design.
You can find an endless variety of these buttons in pokeboxes.

I believe Button No. 1 is Consular but I need to consult.
No. 2 is MPSC

GTB

Actually, Roger is correct re Button 1. I confused Consular with Colonial
