According to Rick Grebert's book Military Badges of the Australian Colonies. It should be gilt and 57mm high.

This is a copy along with all the other Queensland Medical Department badges on the market. Genuine examples have never been found. We can assume the dies were made but never used, found many years later and the copies knocked out. They come up on ebay again and again for around GBP5 by those you know they are copies to GBP100 for the ignorent(or greedy)
