There is a fantastic file at the National Archives relating to this subject, with many hand-drawn regimental devices, some of which were eventually deemed unsuitable for memorials and therefore rejected. From memory, one was the KRRC. I believe the many battle honours which the regimental cap badge bears, made its rendering in stone unfeasible.

Jo,
