Designs for regimental badges for use on headstones in war cemeteries.

Jo,
There is a fantastic file at the National Archives relating to this subject, with many hand-drawn regimental devices, some of which were eventually deemed unsuitable for memorials and therefore rejected. From memory, one was the KRRC. I believe the many battle honours which the regimental cap badge bears, made its rendering in stone unfeasible. Thanks for posting. Jo,
Yes, that's the one. Absence of battle honours on arms of the cross. I must look through my files; I'm certain there are others that had been considered unsuitable. Thanks for posting. JT. |

Thanks, Jo.
I'm sure most members will be aware that 'tonyb' has an absolutely superb forum album entirely devoted to this subject: http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...hp?albumid=973 JT. Last edited by Jelly Terror; 01-03-17 at 01:44 PM. |
