Cocked hat
Hi Didier. Cocked hats are worn in the British Army by the Major General Commanding London District as well as some other senior officers. Many of the bicorn hats have plumes as seen here in pictures I took at this year's Trooping the Colour. I'm assuming this is what you have.

I doubt that this bicorn is at all military. It could well be a diplomat's or other functionary's headdress. Besides, there is neither lace nor tassels. Would be interesting to eventually identify the cockade.
As the interior shot is a bit blurred, can you please confirm the type of crown in the maker's Royal Arms? It seems to be the current one but I'm not too sure. Rgds, GTB |
