I have a feeling that its a total fabrication. I can't see it in kipling and king. The location rings a bell for a well known faker mentioned on the forum before.

Yeah, I was only kidding. I don't think you'll find this chap in any book. I think this has to be the best he's done to date for me. Very creative........
I wonder if you could class this as "Trench Art"...... Simon. |

Lol. Would make for an interesting take on a fourth film, set in the trenches of the somme. Maybe 'in no mans land' as the subtitle.
I wonder what the cross bones were originally from?

I don't believe I've ever seen an ebay seller with 96% feedback.
One to be avoided based on feedback alone! |

I once saw 84 percent. That was in pc parts.
Its not bad for him as he has only just got going with this id. Phil

I think it's the shoulder title of the MG section in the Blackpool Pals, the bones are from a seagull hence their nicname " The Seagulls ". I was told that the cap badge was an ice cream cornet and instead of a crown they had the tower.

Having looked at his stuff....... its got some Canadian bits in it. Having seen other Canadian badges that have been altered ..... there was a Royal Atrillery badge on here that had an altered gun wheel that was considered "good".
I have to say the bones do look very well made..... possibly silver. There is no way of proving this is genuine..... but as an item of interest..... it certainly is! I wouldnt mind betting that if you dropped the badge in "Silver Dip"....... those bones would come out sparkly! (Take a look at his feedback! 96.3% hmmmmm)

Despite the comments on this thread, I believe someone has gone to a great deal of trouble to create this item. Locating crossed bones at just the right size, fixing pins to the rear, drilling to correspond and assembly. Had it been pin-backed, rather than looped, I might have opted for a wartime souvenir piece. It almost poses more questions than it answers. David

Going to a great deal of trouble to make an item is one thing, (it may well qualify an an item of beauty and high quality), passing it off as a WW1 badge is quite another thing.
Personally I believe this is a dishonest individual. |
