Default War Correspondents Badge Backing Question

I recently picked up a moth eaten tatty War Correspondents bullion badge on black backing cloth. I'm presuming it's genuine, but in the back of my mind something is telling me that the backing cloth should be green. Is that a false memory or was the green backing just for a certain conflict. WWI perhaps and this one is WWII ish?
Cheers
Mark

It looks spot on Mark, well done. The backing is green, however you will find many different shades.

A metal version of this cap badge was sealed in June 1918, I believe the cloth ones are from around WW2.
