Default NZ Native Rifle Volunteers Fern ...Lug Question.

Hello
This post is regarding the "New Zealand Native Rifle Volunteers Fern" or "Permanent Staff" or even "Mounted Rifles fern" depending on what book you read or photo you find it being worn.

The question is all about the lugs.

I have had mine on the board for years but recently did see another for sale on line and noticed the lugs.
All the badges of this type that I have seen, including mine, have lugs with a foot/ T where it is connected to the badge.

I have added photos of mine to show this.

So it would be great to see other collectors badges of this type (Oldham 2/171) to see if they all share this type of "T" lug or if there is some variation.

Especially interested if we have some of these ferns from old collection.

Show us your Lugs! Please.

Cheers
Corey

Hi Corey,
I have just the one example of this badge with only one lug which appears to be the same as you have shown.
Cheers,
John

A very interesting subject, IMO it is not a Native Company fern badge, and I am more inclined to think it is a generic fern badge worn by officers, Permanent Staff, instructors etc.
I believe there are very good copies out there, comparing old collection badges with with ones that look like they were made 20 years ago could help people avoid costly mistakes.
Sadly I dont have one of these badges to share.
