Button ID please
Hi Folks,
Could someone have a stab at this one please, I'm pretty sure it's military and I know Radnorshire had a Rifle Volunteer Corps and I think Presteign did too but I don't really know what the button represents. Cheers. Kev. DPP_0011.jpg DPP_0012.jpg |

Illustration 261 in "Rifle Volunteer Buttons 1859-1908" the MHS special number by Ripley and Darmanin.
The description says- 261-"1st Corps, Radnorshire Rifle Volunteers, white metal " P.B.

1st Radnorshire Rifle Vols were raised in 1860 and became lst Administrative Bn Radnorshire RV's in 1864. I would guess your button was worn 1860-1864 but it's possible it continued to be worn until 1880 when Radnorshire RV's became part of Herefordshire RV's. David |
