4th VB Royal Sussex Regiment Glengarry Badge
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me whether the 4th VB Royal Sussex Regiment glengarry badge was ever cast in WM (rather than stamped or pressed) and if it has been re-struck or faked at any time. Thank you in advance, I would be very grateful to establish this. Kind Regards, Pete. Last edited by Tiger Pete; 24-07-17 at 03:49 AM. |

Pete,
I would look at some of the web sites of some of the well known purveyors of duds to see if this is badge they offer. Peter

Thank you Simon and Peter,
This crown and orb is certainly different to the 1st & 2nd VB badges which are also both subtly different (pictures attached). I should say that the photo of the badge in the first post is not in dispute as it's in the Redoubt Museum. Unfortunately, I haven't seen the back of this example for reference, but my 2nd VB and other volunteer glengarry are die stamped. I've never seen a restrike of this badge but the example in question is clearly cast. I'll keep trawling the usual suspects' offerings. Kind Regards, Pete. |
