I had a GGF who was an officer in the Bengal and NorthWestern Railway Volunteer Rifles and was a Scots railway engineer. I suspect it was his and his colleagues influence that those Scots symbols might have been adopted? I would be interested to know more.

I should have got that! - The Jodhpur one, I mean. And, clearly, I should not have been so dogmatic about the 'Scottish' badge, especially as, now that I see the information, I can think of other 'Scots themed' units amnog the AFI.

I think the Jodhpur Lancers badge - cap/armband/collar has an eagle with "Marwar' on a scroll beneath .. I'm not sure but will confirm from someone whose grandfather was with the Jodhpur Lancers and who collects to the regiment and whose book on them is due out shortly
