Default A&SH Thistle? - ID Please

Researching this named photo on behalf of a pal, which is inscribed as 7th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. Not being my area of collecting, I'm wondering if the uniform/badge etc., are correct for this regiment? I've not encountered the large thistle cap badge previously.

With thanks as always,

JT

JT,
I think the badge is to the Scottish Reserve Regt
I cannot help with the uniform.

Hi JT,
I should of added Royal before Scottish Reserve Regt I think they were disbanded in 1901/2 if that date helps, I am afraid I cannot recall seeing an image or ref of a Scottish Reserve or Argyll in that manner of dress.
Hopefully someone can enlighten us
Paul

Looks like a civilian band uniform to me and not military.

regards

I would agree with Simon. A musician and he seems to be holding a Fife.
Of course he could also have been a member of 7 A&SH as well as a civilian band.
