Default Kiska / TF9 printed

Be careful on this lot. It is a repro, not an original. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322402428481...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

The original collector gets very high praise!

So who is wrong?

Default Kiska/TF 9

I thought the original printed flash was the same size as the embroidered one, am I correct to assume the printed flash was only issued to US forces.

I have heard the US printed flash was for the US rain jacket/poncho?

Default Kiska TF9 Patches

Canadians were issued both the printed and embroidered badges and they were worn on BD and the various US jackets issued to 13th Brigade for the operation.

Marc, there have been several "suspect" items come out of that collection. A lot of really good, scarce badges, but some real dogs too. This is one.

There were two printed types; one that was sewn onto the uniform and another that was impregnated with a water-resistant medium that was to be glued onto rain jackets.

Hi all

Just checked current ebay listings and all the "Original Vietnam" patches are made in Vietnam and are all current reproductions including computer stitched.

Thanks Phil. I understand US era Vietnam patches are a quagmire of reproductions. Are there some specific characteristics to look for?

Hi Bill

Apologies for late reply , I couldn't remember where I posted my comment!!
Me thinks I'm suffering from CRAFT!

All are modern day reproductions some are computer generated, some are machine guided. The base material is incorrect, the embroidery is of a poor quality and also incorrect weave style.
The shape, designs ,colours, lettering are all incorrect.
There is also a few fantasy and made up patches amongst this lot.

Original legit Vietnam era have folded ends including round patches and high quality workmanship either hand or machine guided.

Once again Bill apologies for late reply!!

Phill
