Default Need 29th division patch size.

Photo 1.jpg

I am setting up a dummy figure for a local exhibit, showing a WWI British soldier.
Attached is a photo of the patch's I need. What is the size of the red diamond of the 29th division, also what was the size of the "Battle Badge" worn on the back?

I would appreciate any help on these.

Default NEWFOUNDLAND WITH 29TH

Hi

I don't have a picture of it but a Newfoundland Regiment uniform that I saw from 1916 had an oval white/claret patch sewn on to the rear of the collar. The height of it was just a bit less than the height of the collar. Not sure if this is typical of that period. It was a tailor made uniform so that might have affected the placement.

Regards

Don

Its a funny old world, triangle is 104 mm across the bottom, and 51 mm high.
And the square is 71mm.
I Have the same book and someone has written that in it.

That dimension of 104mm by 51mm doesn't seem right. The 104mm width seems OK but the 51mm makes the triangle the half of a square. I had read that the triangle was the half of a diamond, and any pictures I have see shows it that way.

Photo attached of what I found in many places, although they never give the size.

The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers wore a red cloth triangle cap badge backing. This was to commerate their time with the 29th Division. I have a caubeen complete with red triangle. It's size is approx 105mm x 75mm. Hope the helps.

On my screen this measures 175mm x 77 mm. 60% 0f these dimensions gives a width of 105mm and the height 46mm. Does this help?
