Any ideas on what’s this button is from?
Hello,
I found this button out metal detecting and was hoping someone could help me with some info on it? The badge on the back reads ‘Ollivant & Botsford’, ‘Manchester’. On the front the image seems to be of a pistol being fired. Thanks. |

I can't make out the image very well but it looks like a livery button rather than a military one.
Roger PS Looking again at the photo (which I think shows the button upside down) it appears to depict a 'torse' (a twisted bar) with an arm pointing up holding an item (probably not a pistol). Almost certainly a livery button. PPS Look at some similar examples here - https://sites.google.com/site/livery...an-arm-embowed Last edited by Cribyn; 27-03-18 at 04:25 PM. |

I'm guessing the button is shown upside down, with a straight torse at the top rather than the bottom?

I can make out a torse at top, so definitely upside down. The arm may possibly be holding a dagger or short sword
