While the IWM has (judging from multiple links in other threads) often made errors in the captioning of photos in its collection, this one is not "too far" off the mark. The same photo is in the Roll of Honour entry at the Australian War Memorial for:

David John Anderson

The caption to the photo (click on it to get it) is:

A native of Bendigo, Vic, Sgt Anderson was a pharmaceutical student in civilian life before enlisting on 10 September 1914. He had embarked for service overseas on HMAT Themistocles on 22 December 1914.
