Overseas service chevrons (and medal ribbons) here too, dating this image to pre-1922, when the wearing when in uniform of chevrons denoting service overseas (together with silver war badges, wound stripes) was discontinued under Army Order 434 of that year.

I did note that. presumably the absence of Squeak and Wilfred ribbons make it pre 1919?

Hello,just to add another photo,,this one from the IWM files, shows more clearly an officer wearing the collar badges with a 'T'.

Default 163rd Infantry Officer Cadet Training Unit (Artists' Rifles)

Three items to add to this subject.From the IWM files.

© IWM (HU 93505) Major Ostle served from June 1916 until the end of the War. He was awarded the Military Cross and left the Army having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Acting).



© IWM (INS 7265).White metal model.....A pair of lugs to reverse....




© IWM (INS 6158) 163rd Infantry Officer Training Unit. The badge is a representation of the Artists' Rifles cap badge, although this shoulder flash it appears to have been worn as facing pairs. Also, the scroll on the shoulder flash carried no legend.
