Gary

The RIF is a fake as there is no line under the O. The Lincolnshire Lambourne makers mark looks o.k. and the shape of the slider is correct for most Lambourne badges. IMO Lambourne badges are often of poorer quality than those of other manufacturers so I wouldn't be too concerned about the slight mis-strike. My only concern is the bright coloured metal. It may be the lighting that you have used to photograph it. I would need to handle the badge to be absolutely convinced of it's authenticity. So on balance I would give it a tentative thumbs up.
Regards

James

I will echo what James has said. I am not keen in the royal Irish fusiliers for the reasons mentioned. The Lincolnshire is a text book Lambourne. Note the "Ghosting" on the lettering of "LINCOLNSHIRE".

I will add that Lambourne used two types of slider, or vertical shank. The one you have, and a thinner one with a square bottom. I will post an image in a bit.

Andy

Not the best images, but hopefully it illustrates the two types of slider.

Many thanks for you comments on the two badges. The Lincolnshire is very new looking,Its not just the camera flash.I thought the RIF was well worth putting on here from the point of view that if its wrong as it probably is its very convincing. If you handled it with out the slider mark you probable would judge it to be ok.Thanks to you all again.

Thanks for the reminder Paul

Here is a "LAMBOURNE'S BIRMINGHAM" Machine Gun Corps title. I think you should be able to make it out.
