uvf armband
hi all,
have seen a few of these at local auctions over the past while http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ULSTER-VOL...#ht_121wt_1255 the ones i have seen are in mint condition with no sign of wear, age etc even if kept in a box for almost 100yrs. many were worn at a recent centenary parade http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEpw_ejnf2U i would be very wary but thats just my view. what do you think?? philip Last edited by rockape560; 15-08-13 at 09:53 PM. |

Philip,
100% fake. There are more of these about now than there were South Belfast men who signed the covenant in 1912. Eddie |

I think that you are doing a good service by putting on record that there is a very high chance that these were reproduced in c. 2012/2013.
Those that come after us and say I have had this in my collection for 30 years may be able to access this record and see that the wearers were possibly in Belfast in 2013 and not necessarily only in 1912. John |

hi guys,
thanks for your comments which i totally agree with. however it is the word"genuine" i have a problem with.if it had said "repro" or something similar there would be no problem. those of us over here knew right away there was a problem with this armband, but what about those overseas and those in the future as john rightly says philip |

Its not worth commenting on anything that anyone sells - that is dodgy - on ebay anymore. A complete waste of time. So, caveat emptor every time. As we know, sellers have complete protection - the victims do not. Now where have I heard that before about our legal system and criminals?? |

David,
These armbands are not just available on ebay. They are also available in what I would describe as Loyalist souvenir shops and at militaria fairs. They will be about until after the Somme centenary, July 2016, after that they will become 'rare WW1 collectibles'. Eddie |

This seller is the cheapest and I don't see him making many claims about it. It was made for the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. He had WW1 Royal Irish Rifles badges in gold AA material. I accidentally said RUR badge and was told, no, it was Royal Irish Rifles. Eddie |
