Default Officer cap of the Militay Police

I bought some years ago this cap from Alkit London. The cap badge is without "Royal" prefix, so I date it between 1936 and 1946. But I cannot identify the buttons. Thank you

Hello,

The cap is to an officer of Major upwards but the cap badge is an other ranks and does not belong with the cap, so its no use using it in order to date the cap I am afraid.

Any retailers marks inside?

The buttons are unknown to me and look like a apair of monogrammed cuff-links?

regards

Hi there,

The flat gilt buttons with "DHC" engraved on them, are for the "Delhi Hunt Club" in India.

Cheers

Ian

So nothing to do with a Military Police cap.
Wrong buttons + wrong badge = good fake

Of course, Good means Horrific. But, for my small consolation, is the badge original, and is the cap an original MP officer cap ?

There were no officers CMP caps, see http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=61034 post #4:
"It was not until [3rd March] 1954 that it was authorized for Officers of the Regular Army to be commissioned directly into the Corps of Royal Military Police (RMP). Up until that time, Regular Officers were attached to the CMP/RMP to serve in Provost Officer appointments (DAPM/APM etc) & retained their parent regiment cap-badges, uniforms and accoutrements etc."

The cap is fine, put a current EIIR Officers badge and corresponding buttons on it and it will be okay.

Thank you for your comments and advices. It is to avoid this kind of bad surprises that i am on this forum now.
Do you think the cap badge is a genuine one ? (consolation ?)
Could you confirm that rank cap badge is yellow and officer silver ?

Regards

Laurent

The cap badge is genuine - just an NCO's and not an officer's badge.
