Default Badges (galore) on Battledress

Rather OTT even for a Greenjacket!

For starters the divisional signs are the wrong way round, there is a left and right sleeve badge which should be worn with the tail of the cat facing front.

That Lance Corporal stripe is interesting as it seems to match the colour and style of these which I have yet to positively identify.

I have now! Definitely Rifle Brigade designed in 1960 pattern (two thirds size of BD stripes) for the new (then) No2 Dress.

The skill-at arms badges are really ducky! Bullion on BD!
And BG in wreath was surely never made in bullion ............ it was never more than semi-official, at best, in worsted!

Any suckers out there?

I was watching the going on this one.

Regardless of the negatives already highlighted. I'm sure that the pair of GJ Trg Bde flashes make this a promising proposition to some given their rarity.

I hope this thread hasn't become a spoiler to any member who was wishing to acquire this BD, 'suckers' or not!

Good luck with the rest of it to whoever wins the item.

It has the added attraction to BD collectors of being a 47 pattern rather than the 49 pattern it is described as.

Wasn't there or isn't there some regulation about only being allowed to wear two skill-at-arms badges at any one time?

Yes, but the Driver one was regarded as a bit different, as indeed were the "horse" driving predecessor badges I believe. Its the bullion that is making me snigger. Like "how did he get hold of them in the austerity years ....... the only formations at all likely to get issued were Household troops, and I bet they never wore BG?"

I would have a good look at the stitches before I spent my hard-earned on it ........ the garment may well be kosher, but not the attachments, surely?

Never say never, but .................

I think that's a RB thing, I'm sure the WOII only wore it on one sleeve and usually in bullion too. I know it's odd but some regiments can be very peculiar.

The images in post #5 in this thread may be of help, or interest to those that may not have seen them?

One thinks that someone may be being just a little creative with this one. What would these days be called a 'walt' in bd clothing.

I think that goes without saying but the value of the blouse itself and the sum of the insignia still make it a viable proposition in my opinion, just as long no one is kidding themselves and the bids don't go too high that is.

I'll continue to watch it with interest.

Default green jackets 3rd batt

This is a B.D i have had for a while now with the green on rifle green stripes,
sorry about the quality of the three pictures taken from R.B chronicles a/corp Notley you can just make out the single stripe on his right arm only and crossed rifles on left forarm which could by bullion also looks like in the second picture there might be something else above the rifles, the last on from a mag shows a cpl wearing these colour stripes on feild jacket c.1965 .
Again sorry about the quality of the pictures, might be better to put them up on my pictures or something to enlarge them, but hope they are of help.
Iain
p.s. isn't that landyard a officers pattern, i have not seen a cord one before only the twisted green and black as used later by the RGJ

Agreed, and I really don't like the 'tacked-on' stitching. It looks like my skill level in sewing!
