Default raf badges-are these for collars or sleeves ?

Can anyone identify these badges. They measure about 33mm across.
Thanks
Mike

Default RAF Badge

Looks very like a side cap badge. Was going to commit to that theory, but not so sure.
Must dig my great uncles one out and compare

Hi John,
I think that it is somewhat smaller than the side cap badge and it is a facing pair. Collars, maybe ?

Wasn't something like that worn on the eppaulettes at one time?

Default RAF badges

Hi Mike
I think the eppaulette badges had screw posts, so I think these were worn above the braid on the cuffs. Don't know the period.
Cheers,
Alex

Thanks, your suggestions have given me a few leads to follow. It is interesting that both prongs on each badge are maker marked - Lambournes, Birmingham. Were they long term suppliers ? If not, it might narrow the time frame of the search .

Check out the shoulderboards for greatcoats on the link below. Don't know anything about whether they were fitted with screw posts (mentioned in the earlier reply) or blades. Haven't seen any photos of one piece badges being worn above cuff rank though. Usually 2 piece such as on the Australian uniforms.

Thanks a lot- I think that it is part of the rank insignia worn on the greatcoat for ceremonial occasions. It looks about the right size .
