Today is ANZAC Day!
Today is Anzac Day - 25th April and the 103rd anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." Lest We Forget Mick

Who is marching today?
I'm off to the dawn service at my old regiment and then the Anzac Day march with the association through Brisbane CBD. Mick

Lest We Forget
Just came back and we had a great turn out for the Portarlington service at dawn and a much small one at 9.00am at St Leonards memorial hall as pictured. Rob Last edited by Jackhr; 25-04-18 at 01:33 AM. |

G'day Guys
Up real early and at the the Upwey / Belgrave RSL by 5am, dawn service at 6am with a crowd of 2000 to 2500, a lovely mild morning but low cloud so the sun didn't come up, however as the minutes silence was being observed a kookaburra laughed out loud from an adjacent tall gum tree, a great touch. A gun fire breakfast followed. At 9.45 we marched from the Upwey shops to the RSL, the police closing the main road for the marchers to cross. Again a crowd of about 2500 and a RAAF fly over during the service. A very good guest speaker Maj Gen Jeffrey Rosenthal gave an excellent address. The museum was open from before 6am until about 6pm and about 5-600 visitors kept us very busy. Lunch was served and the bar open from about 6am. Cold beer tastes great at this time of day. At the going down of the sun and in the morning the good people of Upwey did remember. Lest We Forget. Phil. |
