Default Coldstream Guards officer badge

Hi All
Can I have some opinions on this badge please? The metal might be silver but it looks more to me like chrome when I hold it next to a badge that is definitely silver. The other thing is that the lugs are different to any of my other silver badges which either have silver lugs or copper which have been molded into the badge.
Thanks in advance. Cheers,
Alex

Default Very Modern

Morning Alex.To be honest it has none of the qaulity about it that you would expect from a Regiment like this. The modern types for senior NCOs tend to be silver plated and are not as nice as the Hallmarked/Sterling,"S" marked or unmarked silver ones that the officers purchased.I have had a hallmarked Birmingham,JRG&s 1984 silver badge for the coldstreamers which tells us that in recent times you could still get Qaulity.IMO the badge you have is either a sign of modern times,Poor qaulity,Or made for the collectors market.

Hi Monty
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that was my worry. I'm sure CG officers would buy their badges personally to make sure they got decent ones, and this looks a little cheap.
Cheers,
Alex

Afraid I would tend to agree with Monty's answer on this one.
