hi,

The small badge , centre top, looks like horse furnishings.
Any chance of a better photo of the front of it?

Eddie

Hi,

If you look between the two D's on Paddington you will see a blob for want of a better word. IMO that is not a good sign.

Question

The small badge , centre top, looks like it belongs to the Royal Sussex regiment ? I agree with Eddie; it might be horse furniture. I also wonder if it is complete?

hi neil, is it common to see a silver badge stamped P and have a gaunt plate? which looks to be itself plated? what date would it be? when did gaunt stop using these plates?

Hi BC
I believe the 'P' stamp on the Gaunt Manchesters is to indicate that it is silver plated, an 'S' stamp would indicate silver, but not hallmarked.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi BC
Just a thought, most of the badges I've seen with either the P or S have also had the Gaunt mark stamped on the rear. With the contours at the back of this badge maybe they weren't able to stamp it so a plate was put on???
Cheers,
Alex
