Default Army Cyclist Corps 12 Spoke Cap Badge Opinions Please

Hi
Posted in the wrong thread 1st time around.
Any ideas on this badge totally not my field.
Looks a bit out of shape but is a strong badge.
Had a look on the forum but can't find anything on 12 spoke Cyclist badges to be honest until I had a look at Cyclist badges didn't even realise it had 12 spokes all the rest have 16 so either it's a scarce badge or a complete fake.
Any help would very welcome.
Thanks for looking
Paul

Hi Paul

It looks good to me! These came in 12 and 16 spoke versions, with the 16 being the more common.
The Army Cyclist Corps was formed in 1914 and disbanded in 1920.

Cheers

Colin

Thanks Colin
Would you class this badge as rare then, as you state all have 16 spokes, would this then be classed as the first issue type Cyclist badge, and why did they make 2 different spoke types makers variations ????
Thanks Paul

Paul

Yes, makers variations, I assume. I don't think the 12 spoke was earlier than the 16 spoke, rather both were produced in the same period by different manufacturers. Pretty scarce. A 12 spoke just sold on ebay for £28 and another is currently listed by a forum member for £40.
If you ever want to sell, send me a PM

Cheers

Colin
