Help please
Help please with this ' Sweetheart ' Is this the badge of the British Indian Army 63 Pamacottah Light Infantry?

Hi Destro, yes it's to the 63rd Palamcotta Light Infantry it looks like it's a left hand collar badge converted into a sweetheart brooch - I'm assuming it's gilt not gold? Tim

Thanks for the positive ID, it is a little small for a collar, I have not had it tested yet, but it did cross my mind..... there are no hall marks or makers marks on te reverse. Regrads Steve |

The cap badge and the collars are illustrated in Nath's Sepoys and Sowars - the cap badge is quite small and the bugle faces the other way - the collars do look small but he doesn't give measurements. Tim

Many of the IA units were late to adopt collar dogs at all - post WWI - and when they did they often appear rto have been smaller than what is considered 'normal' for British, Canadian and so on.
