Default Unidentified boss badge

Any ideas on this ? It came with a number of Indian badges and I know there a couple of Regiments that use a scarlet boss with the silver bugle on it, but the boss is a salmon colour (it's definitely not a faded scarlet ) -

Odd one, the mouth of the bugle is facing the opposite way to the KRRC boss badge, might be able to track the id from badges which face that way?
Cheers,
Alex

Any connection to this item, described as to the 5th Maharatta Light Infantry?

I'd say that's a good bet! Still a proud unit of the Indian Army, the 5th MLI led a parade in Paris in 2009 in the presence of the French and Indian PMs. Hven't been able to find a photo of an officer in field cap with boss, however.

Peter, the badge on e bay was described as "faded scarlet boss" - and the bugle faces the other way. ( I must admit hadn't even clocked the bugle's position until it was pointed out to me! )

No idea about colour, as I was unable to find another 5th MLI boss badge to compare, but here is the current badge of the MLI, with the bugle mouth facing right, as yours does. For what it's worth, which may not be much.

Your link shows the same badge that starts this thread, unless there are two identical badges and images.

I think we are at cross purposes, what I meant was the ebay badge is the same as the badge about which this thread was started. (not the one in the previous ebay link)

Perhaps the originator could confirm if it is indeed the same badge and he is selling it or its a similar badge being sold by someone else who has identified it as the 5th MLI.

regards
