The Lonsdale Battalion Border Regiment.
I just found this Booklet amongst some items. Published in 1915 and called "The Lonsdale Battalion Border Regiment"
The Booklet has 44 Black and White Photo`s of the early days of one of Kitcheners Pals Battalion`s.I have just included some of them in case anyone is interested in seeing them. Last edited by yorkie; 29-01-15 at 11:07 AM. |

I agree with what your saying, about the Badges being worn by the Earl of Lonsdale. I must admit to never having seen that badge either.

Hi
The 5th Earl was an Honorary Colonel of the Westmoreland and Cumberland Yeomanry never a professional soldier and most probably had his badge made bespoke. A note on pg18 on the link from a correspondence to Lord Lonsdale that Garrard & Co. Crown Jewellers had forwarded 650 Silver Badges on 16th Jan 1915 to Col Machell, no other ref to Silver badges so I wander how many were actually produced. Paul Last edited by Paul Spellman; 20-12-14 at 07:29 PM. |
