Default Plain I.Y. Shoulder Title Imperial Yeomanry

Can anyone provide information on these plain I.Y. shoulder titles? were they worn by a specific unit or by many with a county designation title underneath?

Mike.

Try and find a separate 4 and a 9 and you'll have a Montgomeryshire shoulder title.

Mike

I have images of them on the headdress, collars & shoulders..... WD must have churned these out in their thousands. They actually make up part of the Leics Imp Yeo first cap badge as well..... 3/4 inch LIY all braised together (BIG badge).... nice and cheap They came in various sizes ... largest normally 3/4 inch..... the 1/2 inch were normally braised together and looped...... the smaller ones still, 1/4 inch with blades, can be found on the Rosettes with the Gm POWFs above them.

Yes, indeed. And now those "aged" rosettes are available, we will be seeing many more I expect. At the time of writing (17.8.20) there are two on eBay purporting to be the rare, 7th Leicestershire with a Victorian 7th Dragoons number mounted on a rosette and a "General Service" rosette with the wrong POW feathers but a genuine small I.Y.

What is the badge in the second photo? Looks like V (something) in sheet brass on a coloured patch?
