Default Opinions appreciated on my new album, please. Whats c**p?

Hi guys,

I would very much appreciate the heads up on any rubbish in my new album, please - http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...p?albumid=1782

Please ignore the ammunition, its just a temporary picture.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

The Yorkshire Regt badge looks good.

And as for the ammo, some dodgy looking bits there Phil!

Hello Phil,
The urge to sent a daft mail has been fought off. I was given a Huntingdon badge but purely as a Kimbolton School badge.

Hi Phil, I think that the quality of your images is fantastic; you have managed to get aligned pictures of the front and back all in one frame. Just not sure of a couple of your badges, so have left comments, I havn't got an example of either badge so I may well be wrong.

Thanks for the album Dave.

Phil,
I would resist adding anything to my own collection that was not anodised and had a slider with the "Gaunt B'Ham" mark... There's a slim chance that the odd badge may have been worn by a serving soldier, however these badges were made around 20 years or so after anodised became the "Issued" badges for the majority of ORs !

The Dorset long scroll/three sets of leaves badge would not be my first choice. Better look for a short scroll/four sets of leaves, preferably in A/A.
The Devonshire and Dorset badge would have been worn in A/A.
I'm with 2747andy on the OBLI badge.

Rgds,

Thomas

Thank you all for your help and comments. Its very much appreciated. I will spend some time tomorrow (oops, later today) removing the chaff.

Go on Matti, whats the silly answer?

Thanks Dave, appreciate the photo compliments

The Hunts badge was worn by an ex soldier, I got rid of the beret (silly me). I cleared his farm house about 10 years ago when I worked for a probate company.

Cheers,

Phil

Cool Hunts beret

Phil,

Unless I am mistaken, the only unit to wear the Hunts Cyclist badge on a beret would have been a cadet force member.

Certainly berets were not worn by the original cyclists or for that matter the Home Guard, that leaves Kimbolton School . . !

Hi Rob,

Thanks, mate. I will retitle the badge as Kimbolton School Cadets.

Cheers,

Phil

Default Herts Cyclists, HG and Kimbolton School

Phil,
the other option could be that your lugged example is an Officer's badge? Here's mine with most of the gilt lost to the front but still in place to the rear, the badge is much thicker and heavier than the ORs. I have a theory (no supporting evidence) that the Cyclists badges had their sliders fitted higher up with the later HG and School badges having a shorter and thinner slider fitted to the rear of the body! The earlier badges are also struck from thicker sheet metal?
