A German Scorpion
The image (from a French archive) taken in June/July 1942 in Hildesheim shows paratroopers of No 1 Coy, Lehr Bn (Maj von der Heydte) preparing to deploy to North Africa. I have never seen this scorpion sign before. Mike

Marc,
Many thanks. It's easy when you know how! After the experience of Crete, I would imagine these men were secretly relieved that were not dropped on Malta. Not a parachutist-friendly environment and appalling for gliders. Mike |
