Default Plastic badge orders

Stephen, many thanks for the information, one wonders why they ordered in excess of 26,000 plastic badges for the Cambridgeshires and what became of them?

Another case of the government over-ordering and wasting taxpayers money no doubt. Ironically they changed the design just postwar to an all white metal badge, as to whether this was ever issued and worn in any quantity I have yet to find out, I can remember a TA who lived near us wearing the bi-metal badge in the fifties.

Cheers Rob

Gentlemen,

Thanks for the replies, I have learnt a lot from reading them, including the history or the Regiment, which I did not know before. The slider positioning I found fascinating and I’m sure it will continue to be discussed elsewhere.

From your replies it looks as if I have one original badge, and the other one I’m not sure of yet, but I will keep as a doubtful for now.

Regards Alan Y.
