RAF cloth wings
I am new to the forum so I will start by saying hello to everyone. My Grandad used to collect militaria and I still have a few pieces he had. Although I don't collect RAF insignia I liked these and kept hold of them ( ww1/ww2 County Regiments, in particular Royal Sussex Regt are my main interest ) they are both cloth wings, the first one I know is ww2 issue.
000_0012.jpg000_0013.jpg000_0007.jpg000_0008.jpg It is the second pair I would like to know about they are made with silver or bullion wire, my Grandad obtained these back in the mid seventies, I wondered if they were worn on a dress uniform / mess dress or maybe it is a blazer badge, any opinions would be of interest. Many thanks, Barrie. Last edited by bazden; 23-03-08 at 05:57 PM. |

Also new to the forum, but the bullion type are almost certainly for a Dress uniform.

Both are genuine wings. The bullion example if it is full size, is in my opinion the rarer of the two.

And, if I may say so, very overlooked by many collectors. Nice items and concur they are genuine to boot!
