Default 72nd Bn oddity........

Good day gentlemen. I have this 72nd Bn.CEF badge(with flat lugs) and you will notice that the number 2 is not completely "fretted"*. In your opinion,it's just a a die flaw that did not stamped out the inside of the 2 and it doesn't add or lessen the value of the badge,or something else. Also, when looking at the back,it seems it was doubly-stamped(see motto).
All comments will be appreciated.
Cheers
Jo

Jo,
If you put after the URL we can see the picture in the message.

Clive,

Please don't tell him that. It's rather enlightening to see that he is posting images from a dealer's web site.

Thank you Clive for the tip.

As for you Mr.Herring, yes the images are from a dealer but NOT, I repeat Not from his website and I am doing him a favour by posting these.......it's a pity my mastery of the english language doesn't permit me to give you the answer you deserve. Also,I have to much respect for the members of this Forum to continue in this discussion with you.

Re the double-struck back, I think this is from die-bounce. Shows up in a few Canadian badges. I'm guessing the blank sticks in the obverse die and the reverse die shifts a bit before they whack it again.

And what answer do I deserve? Are you going to tell me I'm rude and obnoxious? I get that all that all the time, usually when I have drawn attention to somebody's rude/slimy/unethical behaviour. When the person in question thought they were "oh so clever" and that they had gotten away with something, they try to shift the blame to me for pointing it out.

If you are picking people's brains for a dealer's benefit, then man up and tell us. Spare us the "righteous" indignation.

King's Own Calgary (M 170) shows up with double struck backs quite often.

Apparently the badge in question is a "Rare variant"
I learn something new every day.

And in the short space of a week, it is no longer rare.

Please be aware that Jo Garnier (forum name Voltigeur) acts as an agent for Montreal area militaria dealer Michel Perrier, yet consistently fails to disclose this relationship.
