Default Malaysian Jungle Warfare and Riot Control School

3 badges for the Malaysian Jungle Warfare School and the Malaysian Riot Control Course. Had these initially marked for attendees from the Thailand Border Patrol Police. Of course the Jungle Warfare School would have mainly military attendees, however the Thai Border Patrol Police operate much like a military unit. All 3 are Thai made.

Had once seen a graduation certificate for the JWS that illustrated the smaller green JWS sign. It had been awarded to a South Vietnamese Army officer in the early 1960's. The JWS was once run by the British military. Is it now a joint effort?

thanks
Jack

Default JWS Ulu Tiram

An unconventional response, but this advert and illustrations fixes the British (and Commonwealth) Jungle Warfare School, Ulu Tiram, Johore in the early 1960s. Its sign, printed and worn by Permanent Staff only, was similar to that of the School of Infantry, Warminster - but in the case of JWS an upright white bayonet with black detail on green. I imagine that as the British withdrew from SE Asia the JWS will have been handed over to the Malaysian Army. Mike

Default JWS and School of Infantry

Two signs - the one on green being the JWS c 1965 and, for good measure, the scarce School of Infantry (1st Pattern) sign (worn by Capt John Burgess East Surreys 1954-56.)

the scarce School of Infantry (1st Pattern) sign (worn by Capt John Burgess East Surreys 1954-56.)

I didn't know that.

The first badge shown - is that not Thai?
I don't have the badges or images of them to hand but I have a pair of similar badges (without the rifle & the wording, one in coloured threads the other subdued, black on green with red & white detail) given to me by a Thai Ranger officer.

Leigh, that is correct Thai. I had not made that very clear in original post.
Thanks
Jack

Sorry, I later realised that you may have meant that the badge was Thai rather than Malaysian.
