For Tim (g_g_a). Tim. Number 13 on page 4 of your album could be School Colours for the Army Apprentices School at Arborfield. However, your blue seems to be slightly more vivid than mine (see pic), however as can be seen I've had to take this pic from behind glass. Colours were awarded for representing the school/collage at sport. Out of interest, the other pic is Company Colours again for sport. Blue was A Coy, Red B Coy, Green C and Yellow D Coy. If yours is AAS then it is shown inside out, blue should be in the middle, yellow on the outside.

John, CAM and Nico,
Many thanks. I need to review my lanyard collection and try to further identify the unknowns.

To assist in identification I have added scanned copies of some available documentation to my album http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...p?albumid=2027

Dave,

I am not sure that I can!

Most of the available documents only refer to lanyards by colour but JSP768 descriptions (see my album http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...p?albumid=2027) use the following terms:

Single Plait (e.g. as worn by RAF Officer Cadets)
Braid Type Single Cord (e.g. RM Cdo and PARA Bns)
Braid Type Double Cord (e.g. Pistol or Whistle Cord Lanyards)
Stable Ply Type 4 Ply Single Cord (e.g. 439 Assault Sqn RM)
Link Type 3 Ply (e.g. RA, RE, R SIGNALS)

Tim

Thanks Tim
The ones I am interested in are for the RAF Officer cadets of 1961. Your description of the RAF mention in JSP768 would help. Perhaps you could suggest one in your collection that matches the style of "single plait" as that may help.

Default RAF Lanyards

These are as listed in the 2010 version of JSP768 - they may not have changed since 1961
