Liverpool Cadets,OTC`s ,CCF`s etc
Whilst I have a number of items of Liverpool Cadet insignia and details of many items which I am looking for, if any members have any information or pictures of cadets or insignia I would be most grateful if they would post them to help build up a complete picture of Liverpool Cadet and OTC units and their badges.
Many thanks in advance. Peter

Liverpool Cadets
Peter,
I know this thread is old but I have scanned copies of The Cadet List 1939 (Correct to 31.12.38.) Attached are the East & West Lancs pages. The handwritten figures relate to the number of enrolled cadets I believe. If anyone else would like me to supply them copies of county interest please pm me. Regards, Stephen. |

It was most kind of Badjez to post the West Lancs page of the Cadet List for 1939.
Most interestingly Merchant Taylors School ( cadets ) is shown as being affilited to the 7th Bn The Kings Regiment. This was probably geographically the nearest T.A, unit but in 1938 the 7th Kings had become the 40th (Kings ) RTC. I had understood that the Merchant Taylors Cadets were affiliated to the the 6th Kings ( Liverpool Rifles ) and certainly since 1954 the unit had the following affiliations 1954- 6th Kings 1955- 573 HAA Regt RA (TA) 1958- 287 Medium Regt RA (TA) 1963--1966 5th Kings 1967-68- Lancastrian Volunteers 1969 onwards-Kings Regt It appears that despite their affiliations the MTS OTC/CCF wore the 6th Kings cap badge untill replaced with the Kings ( Mcr and Lpool ) cap badge. Officers wore a red cord boss with blackened bugle horn ( with thanks to Tim W and Andrew B ) I have been trying to establish what badges were worn by Liverpool Institute cadets. In an article on the OTC`s in the SAHR journal and in Cox they are said to have worn an all white metal Kings badge ( presumably the large post 1926 pattern ) The difficulty is to try and establish what they wore later on in the beret and there are pictures of the cadets on the Liverpool Institute web site from around the 1970`s wearing a Kings Liverpool badge .I am begining to think that this might be the anodised badge sealed in 1971 which was and is worn by Liverpool University OTC. If anyone has any further information it would be much appreciated. P.B. ( Picture of Liverppol Institute CCF circa 1970 attached )
