Bryan, on the subject of distinctive colours, did RCN flag officers wear their branch colour under the gold lace on their shoulder boards? I recently saw a picture of an RAN Surgeon RAdm who has the scarlet underneath his lace.

Yes Gino, altho the only example I have is a Supply Rear Admiral.
I will take a shot of it & post. I think the only other Flag rank applicable to RCN would have been Engineer Rear Admiral.

& after the distinctive colours went overboard only the Surgeons & Nursing Sisters wore the red & maroon colour between the lace.

Default Surgeon Rear Admiral

OK, so memory not all that great - turns out I do have a Surgeon Rear Admiral Shoulder board - & should have known that as I have the dress uniform of the RCN Surgeon General in the early 1960's!

Also a photo of Supply Rear Admiral shoulder board....

The Surgeon General of Canada also has red backed shoulder boards. A good picture of modern RCN uniform.

Bryan,
I have a pair of Commander's collar pins with the Light Green distinguishing colour. Any interest?

A small correction; Commodore Jung is actually Surgeon General of the Canadian Forces, not of Canada.

Semantics. Actually his title is Surgeon General / Commander Canadian Forces Health Services Group. Also the Surgeon General of the Canadian Armed Forces, and since there is only one in the country, of Canada. He is Brigadier-General J.J.-R.S. Bernier, OMM, CD, QHP, BA, MD, MPH, DEH, FRCPC (hon)
