Default Sandhurst Group badge

My contact at Liverpool University OTC has very kindly given me the attached Sandhurst Group badge.

Not wishing to show him my ignorance, could anyone on the Forum please tell me what exactly the group is ?

Thanks

P.B.

Thanks Paul,

I had done an internet search but nothing came up. You do wonder if any University OTC`s would not be in a "Sandhurst Group " and why some might be excluded.

None are excluded. They all come under RMAS to improve recruiting into RMAS.

Thanks Alan,

Presumably that means it is ( or can be ) worn by members of all OTC`s ?

The information I was given is:

Subdued circa June 2014, to be worn on the left sleeve of the Combat Uniform by all Permanent Staff and Officer Cadets.

Peter

Don't know as it's a few years since I saw an OTC cadet. It might be the OTC version of a TRF but that is speculation on my part. Everybody seems to have to have a patch now although CGS has reduced the number of approved ones.

Recently, i was speaking to a guy from Birmingham UOTC on another matter. He mentioned the Sandhurst thing, the impression that I got from him,was that all Officer Cadets would wear the Sandhurst cap badge in the near future.

Thanks Mike.

That would be a sad day as the old badge of the Kings Liverpool Regiment would finally disappear forever but the LUOTC ( as an example ) recruit from a number of North West Universities not just Liverpool and the infantry of the regular army now comprise a relatively small number of regional regiments so perhaps the way things might go.

No room for sentiment or tradition in todays world.

Keep the faith; 20 years ago they tried to homogenise the ACF on a single cap badge and a single coloured shoulder title. They won the latter, but not the former.

Very true Peter, they seem to have done a good job though via backdoor methods. The Infantry regiments now seem via similar in name to the old Brigade system name, with a little tweek here and there.
No doubt the Cavalry will end up with 3 tanks each and there`ll be a regiment of 1 each of Dragoon Guards, Hussars and Lancers. Whooops there is only one regiment of Lancers now .
