Default King’s Regt Happy Christmas Details

In the light of providing the Grenadier Gds Pattern details, I thought I’d provide KLR details as a Christmas present for one and all. Personally, I only collect cap badges - and glengarry badges for Lpl Scots - (though I have a few details on other badges)

King’s Regiment cap badges
Date on left; officer’s S/ S&G - OSD - OR; Pattern nos. Officer’s badges did not have Patt Nos until 1949.
oh dear the spacing got mixed up - I hope it's (fairly) clear now

Regular Battalions
1895 - - BM(Pattern 4362/1895)
1896 S&G - OSD - BM(4362A/1896)
1926 S&G - OSD - BM(Pattern 10042/1926)
1950 S&G - - BM (Pattern 14312/1950)

Unofficial (c 1900 - 1926)
#1(Gaunt) S&G - OSD - BM
#2 (Jennens) S&G- OSD -
#3 (theatre made) S&G - OSD -

Volunteer Battalions, 1895/1896 –1908/1920
There were no Pattern designations for VB but 4VB and 6VB are listed in RACD ledger 21.Not certain if OSD badges were worn by all the VBns. Most only had one design. Most from 1896 but 7VB from 1908 as they were the only surviving Vol Bn (disbanded 1920)

1VB S&G - BM
2VB - boss - blkGM
3VB (as reg)
4VB (as reg) 1895 WM
5VB silver - WM
6VB (as reg) 1895 WM, 1896 WM, GM
7VB - OSD - WM
8VB silver - WM– (Glengarry)

Territorial (etc) Battalions.
From 1908 there were no Pattern designations for TF badges. Provision taken over by RACD in 1915 with three digit Patt numbers. In 1916-7 most were given regular four digit numbers.

5 Bn
1908 - blkOSD - blkGM (Pattern 598/1915)
1916 silver
1921 WM (Pattern 3510/1921)
1926 - blkOSD - blkGM
“1927” blkGM
1963-7 AA

6 Bn
1908 - boss - blkGM (Pattern 599/1915; Patt 9142/1916)

7 Bn

1926 (silver) (as reg) WM

8 Bn
1908 boss - blkGM (Pattern 601/1915; Pattern 9025/1916)
