Default 10th Gurkha Rifles

Did they use this design as a badge or only use it without the Gurkha rifles scroll?

These date to pre WWII from the makers marks of the cutlers, William Hutton & Sons who went out of business in 1930 and used the arrow mark from c. 1900 until then, so sometime between those two dates. However three of the forks have a different mark I have yet to date and also a different lower scroll which I cannot read.

Thanks for the help.

Hi Jerry - I think the badge dates it to 1937 > 1950. After 1950 they had "Princess Mary's Own" added to the title. The Bugle and Kukri design was introduced in 1937. Before 1937 the badge would have been upright kukri's crossed left over right with the numerals 10 above the intersection. Nice items Jerry. Tim

Thanks Tim.

That probably means the cutlery was old when the regimental crest was added as the makers went out of business in 1930. I would assume any jeweler could have done the work with no problems.
