Default 10th Gurkha Rifles cap badge

10th Gurkha Rifles cap badge, marked Gaunt, London... the cap badge seems quite genuine to me, but I worry about the slant Gaunt markings...

Loupie,
Sorry it is a copy, have a look at the Makers Mark section at the top of the page!

Not surprising, given the cachet attached to Gurkha stuff, that the fakers are turning them out - I've certainly come across a lot of dodgy ones over the years.
Sorry, Loupie!

There are so many fake Gurkha badges around, Ive always found genuine WW2 ones hard to come by, It seems even the post war ones are widely copied,

Correct, Angle Iron. Everybody loves the Gurkhas - all that 'elite unit' nonsense, IMHO. The WWII genuine stuff is not easy to come by, as most was made, issued and worn in the East and went home with the men when they demobbed or into Indian Army stores, and Lord knows where from there.

Loupie

As I said, for that price, I'd keep it as place holder.

India has always been the land of recyling, On a change of badge the old issue were invaribly melted down and recast. I have a 10th GR officers silver cross belt plate where the QVC has been neatly cut out and a KC put in, all very well done. THe QVC is a very scare plate as it appears all the officers had it done.
Sadly the gurkhas have in the last few years become very collectable. Its not that long ago there were only three of us who bid on E bay!

regards
Steve
