Default Unknown Cloth Dragon Badge - Berkshire related?

Hi Folks,

Hope you can help with the ID of this cloth dragon badge.
I picked it up recently from eBay in the hope that it was a badge or insignia of some sort relating to the Royal Berkshire Regiment.
However, now having been through my books etc. I am at a loss as to what it is or if it is even Berkshire Regt related, though my gut feeling is that it is something to do with the Berkshires.

Dimensions :
76mm High (from bottom of the laurel sprays to the tip of the crown)
55mm Wide (from the outside of the left laurel spray to the outside of the right laurel spray).

Any ideas or suggestions please?

Many thanks

Ian

I know it doesn't help but the colours put you in mind of a police badge.

Hi Peter and JT,

Thanks for the comments.
That is a good shout - the Border Regt is a good possibility - I will have a look at their insignia in case it matches anything.

Cheers

Ian

I am wondering if it is a school blazer badge.

Regards

Stephen

Could this be a Naval item issued to Chinese Ratings at some time in Hong Kong ?

Hi there,

It could well be a form of insignia issued to Military Personnel in Hong Kong.

Have to admit I have not had any luck whilst looking at Border Regt insignia or at school badges - nothing comes close.

The only badge I have found that comes close is a printed badge from the Berkshire A.C.F (but it is a modern Queens Crown printed badge).

The similarities are striking - though the dragon from my old badge is missing an extra part of its tail atop its back that the modern badge has as does the Dragon on the collar badges worn by the Royal Berkshire Regt.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures it is all I could find on the web.

So still no further forward really. But thanks for the idea - another avenue to explore.

Cheers

Ian

It looks like an ambulance badge to me.
