Default New Member and a Q on the Highland Light Inf of Canada

Hello,

I am fairly new to the hobby of collecting military cap badges. My interest is with the Canadian army, mainly WW2 but some CEF.
I'm also completely new to using an online forum such as this one; so hopefully I won't make too many blunders.

I could use some help in answering a question that has been bugging me for awhile. It involves the Highland Light Infantry of Canada KC cap badge. I notice that many badges are voided but a minority are non-voided. Does anyone know the reason for this? Does it reflect a different time period or a different maker? Were both types prevalent during WW2?

Thanks for your help.
